Ever since the contractors dug the verges of the road to lay cables on Cardham Drive, the uneven ground is now causing water on a rainy day to stand and collect and flow down in to the path of the residents homes causing damages to properties.
Lilly Naidoo a resident has now become fed up with calling the contractors to sort out the water overflow and has called in Ward 52 Councillor Bradley Singh to step in.
"I called the construction company but nobody did anything about it. I am a sickly woman and I am very afraid for my health now", said Naidoo.
Naidoo complained that she has plating in her legs and that her doctor has warned her that she could lose her life if she falls one more time.
"I have plating in my legs and I am scared to walk outside in the rain. Also on Saturday, 13 August, I had a big prayer and the water was rushing down my pathway into my house and causing all sorts of problems", Naidoo said.
Councillor Bradley Singh has reported that he will be getting the Roads Department to get involved to sort out this matter.
"I have contacted the roads department to sort out this issue. We will find a solution to this matter. We also need to take into consideration that shoddy workmen ship causes a major disturbance for others who are left to sort out problems they had no hand in, in the first place, the roads department has been informed to back fill the verge outside Mrs Naidoo house as soon as the strike is over this will be done" Councillor Bradley Singh said.
