Let's work to Eradicate Poverty.

The 17 October has been designated throughout the world as recognizing the importance of poverty and to eradicate it.

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty was founded in 1993 by the United Nations to bring forth the awareness for poverty eradication as a means to acknowledge the millions who struggle daily to make ends meet.

As a community leader, councillor and a member of the Minority Front, I will also take into consideration that our country is rife with poverty and will be doing my best to fight the cause for poverty eradication.

It is important for us as South Africans to remind ourselves that there are millions of other SA citizens who live through poverty and it is our duty to play our part and put an effort in helping them lift themselves out of it

I believe that in order for us to move forward in our quest for eradicating the disaster of our poverty stricken communities and to achieve the annual 8% economy growth rate, a need for fresh ideas is required. We also need to ensure that the crisis of unemployment is targeted as many South Africans are without jobs.

By understanding the poverty crisis in our economy we are faced with, first, will we then only understand where the challenges lie and allow us to eradicate them head on.

If we are dedicated in eradicating poverty we can work to ensure that the poor citizens are afforded their basic living requirements with the allowance of improving their lives. We can overcome poverty but only if we all work together.

Kind Regards
