MF attends women day programme

Keeping up with woman's month, Minority Front Councillors Lyndal and Bradley Singh attended the Development Foundation Women Day function for Dynamic Women on Saturday August 27, 2011 at the Brookdale Primary School.

The event was opened to all women in and around the Phoenix area and was held to inspire, motivate and empower women to move forward and be recognized in all aspects of life as well as in the working world.

Councillor Bradley was welcomed to the event as the guest speaker. His motivational talk proved his support for women in general and he encouraged them to bring out their best qualities and to be proud of their qualities and association to the world.

"Women are an important part of every life. It is women who have the strength to move on despite all the pain and heartache she suffers. We need to understand and accept that in today's world women are moving forward and conquering the world with their integrity, intelligence and their passion and drive to prove that they can achieve the best results in all aspects of whatever they become involved in," Cllr Bradley said.

The programme ended with a hearty meal which was enjoyed by everyone.

Cllr Bradley Singh and the Census 2011 team who will work in Phoenix.

Census 2011

The Census 2011 is currently underway and Minority Front Councillor, Bradley Singh is urging the public to co-operate with the officials.

The census which is a systematic procedure which collects required information and records it about the population of South Africa is a requirement which allows the government to keep on record its current population as well as to check how it has changed over the years.

South Africa first conducted a Census in 1911 and since then many enumerations have occurred with the most recent two carried out was that in 1996 and 2001, with Census 2011 being the latest one.

"I urge all communities to please co-operate and allow this Census to take place. These people are just doing their jobs and we need to do ours by helping them out", Councillor Bradley Singh said.

Cllr Bradley Singh and Peniel Missions Church Visit the Haven of Rest to Assit the Orphanage.

Haven of rest orphanage

The haven Of Rest Orphanage in Tongaat received an inspirational and heartwarming appearance on Saturday, 27 August 2011, by the Joint Peniel Mission International Church of Cardham Drive in Phoenix and Councillors, Lyndal and Bradley Singh.

The Orphanage houses children from the age of 2 years to 15 years old who have been abandoned by their parents or lost them completely due to incidents of life, as well as senior citizens.

The occupants of the orphanage as well as staff members were most delighted to the way the day had panned out as they were treated to fun and games, had meals provided and received goody bags. Cereals were also sponsored to last at least a few months.

Motivational talks as well as one on one conversations were scheduled to give everyone a chance to be heard. All the church members participated in the drive to give the Haven of Rest Orphanage a day to remember.

Councilor Lyndal was full of emotion at being part of such an inspirational initioative. She said that "it should not matter which area or place you are from but we should take heed of all that is happening in every area and try to help in every possible way that we can. I am just so glad to have been part of this initiative and especially to bring joy, happiness and laughter to the faces of people who have otherwise nothing. It has been one fun and great day".

Cllr Bradley Singh Assist Residents off Lenham Drive to Receive Electricity after Two days.

Minority Front Ward Councillor, Bradley Singh managed to get the electricity back up and running as soon as he was notified of the situation after a major explosion to the electricity box, which was blackened to the core, outside Mr Govenders Lenham home, caused a blackout from Sunday, 21 August 2011 until Tuesday, 23 August 2011.

It is believed and alleged that a massive cable fault has caused the box to explode. Govender claimed that he had notified the respective authorities of the problem but received no responsive help.

"I had called in the Municipality as soon as the explosion happened. I received no help. Due to my electricity being off for three days, all my food in my fridge and freezer has gone mouldy. We are suppose to be receiving help as soon as a problem is reported. I had finally called in Councillor Bradley Singh as he is our Ward Councillor and thanks to him my electricity was restored the very same day", said Govender.

The electricity was finally restored after the intervention of Councillor Singh.

Councillor Singh said that "nobody should be without electricity for such a long period as this has become an important human necessity. I made the necessary arrangements and had the electricity restored, I even went the extra mile and met with the contractors on site and would like to place on record the staff which ensured that the community receives this essential need,however due to the strike action there was a delay and if residents contacted me sooner the problem would have been sorted earlier". said cllr Bradley Singh.
